Sculptra® is an advanced collagen-stimulating injectable designed to gradually restore volume and improve skin quality from within. It is classed as a dermal filler, however works in an entirely different way. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, which add instant volume, Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a synthetic, biodegradable substance that acts as a collagen stimulator. This makes it ideal for treating deeper facial hollows, improving skin firmness, and creating subtle, natural-looking rejuvenation that evolves over time. Sculptra® is commonly used to restore volume in the cheeks, temples, jawline, and lower face, as well as to soften deeper folds such as nasolabial and marionette lines. It can also improve overall skin quality by boosting collagen production.
Mechanism: Sculptra stimulates collagen production rather than adding instant volume.
Result: Gradual, subtle improvement in structure and firmness.
Initial Treatment & Maintenance: 2-3 treatments are typically carried out, 4-6 weeks apart. Sometimes a maintenance treatment between 12-24 months after the initial course of treatments is recommended for best results and longevity. Although Sculptra stimulates your body to produce new collagen, this process isn't a one-time fix as our natural collagen production declines with age, so maintenance sessions are often needed.
Longevity: Effects build over time and can last longer than some standard HA filler treatments. Typically around 2 years, and sometimes up to 3 years.
Results and longevity will also vary, depending on many factors, including lifestyle, skin quality, and individual metabolism.You’ll notice changes gradually rather than instantly. Collagen takes time to rebuild, so results typically start to appear after 4–6 weeks, with continued improvement over the following months.
Sculptra® results are long-lasting, often remaining visible for up to 2 years. Longevity varies depending on your body's collagen response and the number of sessions completed.
Most patients find the treatment very manageable. The product is mixed with local anaesthetic, and a fine needle or cannula is used, leading to minimal discomfort throughout the procedure.
